A short blast of wind chilled Shade as he stared out at the rolling waves of the ocean. His sarong rippled in the breeze, his prosthetic claw resting just slightly over his sword, his mouth letting out a sigh. He should have dressed warmer. He should have realized that it was still cold out, even if winter was soon going to end. He moved a strand of hair behind his ears, stepping forward. The dock moaned quietly as more wind came, and Shade now stood on the very edge, just inches from falling in. He stared down at his reflection in the water- cold. Not the physical type...the emotional type. His eyes were like a dark, cold abyss. He brought his normal hand up to his face, brushing it against his skin. Where has the young boy gone? he thought. Where did his shining bright eyes run off to?
It was a question he had asked multiple times, but he knew that dragons were to blame. Dragons... They were the whole reason he lived life full of hatred. His expressionless reflection suddenly had a snarl and he spun away sharply, crossing his arms over his chest, visibly shaking. From anger or from the chill of the air, he knew not, but his heart was filled with dread as he cast his eyes downward to his feet, wondering why he had stopped his training to visit the docks. Honestly, it made no sense. Then again, nothing he did made sense.

Hidden amongst a stack of old wooden crates and recently used fishing nets, which still bore scales and remnants from its previous catch, Hiccup searched through the docks. The village of Manen was somewhat empty, hardly anyone walked around the homes, while the docks looked completely empty. Toothless was not very far away, he was hidden in the bushes. ‘He better stay there’ he thought, it was best for a dragon to not be exposed in Manen.
After gaining enough confidence, Hiccup stood up, and searched around the brown walkways. The sea was relatively calm, only soft waves crashed onto the wooden poles. One thing he really began to notice was the cold, it was horrible, but at least it hadn’t snowed.
His presence in the hostile village was completely by accident, the storm had led him there. Although Toothless was quite ready to fly again, Hiccup had no intention to leave, it was curiosity, which led him to explore. He was shivering silently when he noticed the boy, taken by surprise, his left leg jerked back, with a loud clank! It hit the wooden boards. ‘How had he not see the boy before’? He thought, ‘stupid..stupid..stupid’.
sorry, really late.

The noise forced Shade out of his thoughts, and her quickly looked up, glaring at the younger boy in front of him. He slightly cocked his head and began walking over to the intruder. Well, well, what have we here? he thought. I don't think he's Månen...I certainly have never seen him before. Once he was a few feet from the new kid, he crossed his hands over his chest, his eyes looking him over. "And, just what do you think you're doing here?" he asked quietly, his gaze turning into a dark glare. "You don't look like you're Månen. Who are you?"
He didn't trust strangers. Actually, he didn't really trust anyone. People made mistakes too often, and even if he did know them well, he hardly shared one ounce of information with them. Anyway, something was off here... He wasn't sure what, but something seemed odd. He looked over the boy again, than noticed with a start that the kid had no left leg. In its place was a wooden stump. He blinked in surprise, trying to figure out what could have done this. However, he wasn't obnoxious, though it might sometimes seem he was, and he truly didn't want to show that he was curious. Instead, he quickly brought his eyes back up, waiting for an answer.
(quite alright!)

As boy at the dock walked over to him, Hiccup quickly attempted to create a believable excuse. His glare sent shivers far worse than that of the winter’s cold. How could he have gotten caught, he thought, he had gone totally unnoticed from almost everyone until now. The initial wave of fear had subdued, but a considerable amount remained.
The boy asked him a question, Hiccup smile shakily, “Well, you know, nothing like walking around in the docks in the cold, just minded my own business”, he tried to sound confident, but a few of the words betrayed him, showing signs of fear. The next question was far more horrible, it mentioned Manen. Hiccup originally thought of saying that he actually was from the village, but he realized it would be too wierd. The boy probably had lived in the village all his life, it would be strange if he’d never seen him.
Hiccup decided it was best not to mention any village, not Berk, not Manen. “Oh umm, I’m Hiccup, just felt like walking around cos it was really quite”. ‘Damn, should’ve just said my name was mat or Bob or something.’

Silbern's wings were outstretched as he let the wind carry him about high above the village of Manen. It was a day of peace as the slightly cloudy sky let a chilly breeze roll by. The dragon was mostly flying blind as his eyes were closed and his mind completly blank. If only it was night time and he was flying amongst the stars! He huffed at the thought and realized he had hours before the sun would finally dip beyond the horizon.
He opened his eyes after a slow barrel roll in the sky. He was eyeing up his next fishing spot when of course he spotted a pair of humans on the docks. It was already widly known that this perticular village was a no fly zone because of their hostility but Silbern paid it no real heed. He always flew to high for any of their weapons and would chuckle at their "fearsome" shouts.
Maybe it was time to let this village know to not cross with the dragons?
Sil opened his mouth and angled in for the attack. He had no intention of bodily harm to either of the young humans as he let a purple ball of explosive flame escape his mouth. The blast hit the dock intersection causing it to leave a gap in the wooden planks. The wooden gap was the only thing seperating the humans from their new island to actual land. Flying high above but still in sight, Sil laughed. He flew circles merely observing.

Shade raised his eyebrows, a slightly amused look on his face. "Hiccup, huh?" He flexed his prosthetic claw, making it crack. "As in, Hiccup, that boy from Berk that I've heard so much about?" He was trying to figure out what this young hero could be doing here. It was told that although he saved his people, defeated some huge dragon, and tamed all of the other dragons, he was rather weak. Looking at him, Shade couldn't say he doubted those tales. However, he did think it was rather odd for Hiccup to be creeping around Månen like this. He was just about to ask another question when he heard something.
Fire. That dreaded element came flying out of the sky and hit the dock, blowing the only escape route to pieces. Shade shielded his face as debris flew around him. He clenched his fists as he quickly stared up at the sky. There was a dragon flying around, almost as if it were watching. "Damn it!" Shade screamed in rage. He hated dragons. One could say he was deathly afraid of dragons, and that one could be right. What a day to forget my weapons! he thought alarmingly, his lips turning up in a snarl. He quickly looked over at the dock, angry that he hadn't been paying attention to his surroundings. It was too far of a jump. He took his anger out on the closest person to him; Hiccup.
"You filthy kid!" he yelled, grabbing the younger boy's shirt and stuffing his face right near his own. "Why the hell did you bring your dragons to Månen? I'll kill you, and then I'll kill it!" How he'd kill a dragon, he knew not, but he had to if he wanted to survive.
(I couldn't read my own post because of the small size XD)

Hiccup’s heart sank, yes he was the boy from Berk. He had been foolish to think that he would be unknown in Manen, a place whose blood boils at the sound of dragons or anything to do with dragons. “well, yes, I guess you’re right, but its kinda just…umm…” Hiccup had no idea what to say, he knew that this boy could, at any moment, attack. He was saved by the blast of fire that shook the wood of the docks.
The boy tripped backwards, fire was swirling not to far away. He got up and looked at the sky, it was the undistinguishable black of a Night-fury, not Toothless of course, but a happy and sadistic dragon flying above. He looked back at shade, his anger was obvious and as hot as the burning flames. The hatred of the beasts was so strong in Manen, just like the dragons breath, it burned and continued to burn until nothing but ashes remained.
Shades fire fell upon Hiccup. In a second he was grabbed and pulled. ‘What the hell are you doing? There’s a dragon above you for god’s sake.’ Hiccup thought, “That’s not my Dragon!”, instantaneously, Toothless emerged from his hiding. The dragon had sensed real danger by now and lunged onto the docks. He threw his tail onto shade in an attempt to push him of his rider.

Shade didn't listen to a word Hiccup was saying. He was from Berk so, in Shade's mind, he'd gotten a dragon to follow him. He was just rearing his fist back to deliver a punch when, out of nowhere, it seemed, a dragon came down. The tail of the dragon hit Shade in the stomach and flung him backwards. Fortunately, it wasn't strong enough of a force to sweep Shade into the water, but it got pretty close. The young man picked his head up, his anger replaced by fear. His mind raced back to that day, nine years ago.
Dragons had attacked his village. He remembered that, at the time, he was only merely curious about dragons. To him, they weren't the bad guys, no matter what anyone told him. However, they most certainly weren't the good guys, either. They came with their fiery breath and Shade went out to fight. He supposed he was doing well- dodge the fire, strike out at the beasts, all of that good crap. Then, he came across a dragon that he couldn't defeat. This dragon knocked away his sword as if it were a measly piece of rubber. Shade, being young and frightened, ran into a house. The dragon chased him, for some reason or another. He remembered falling back as the dragon set the house on fire. The smoke, the flames, his own cries...the vibrant memory of it came back. Then came the smell of flesh burning, and, before he knew it, he was without a left arm.
These thoughts were enough to make him go running, but he refused to do so. As he stood, however, he knew the fear was still etched upon his face. "Why have you brought them here?" he asked, feeling his voice shake. "Do you know what dragons have done to me?" He couldn't yell, he couldn't throw all of his normal hatred out on this boy. There were two dragons that were stopping him from doing so, as much as he longed to kill Hiccup right now.

It seemed that the two humans were really panicing now as one started to fight with the other one. It was entertaining to say the least. Everything changed however when one of the humans instantly took a more aggresive stance and a certain black blur intercepted. Sil's eyes focused with intensity as he spotted the dragon he grew up with. He had should have known! Now that Sil looked closer to the human, he knew him from somewhere!
Sil did a sharp dive and landed on the other side of the dock so the humans could look at him unless they wanted to try and jumping the gap. His eyes however were more focused on Toothless. The other night furry was his Rival all the way through Sil's younger years by everyday feats. Flying, fire, speed... It seemed Toothless was better in all the areas.
Sil made sure that his rear guard was clear before resting by placing his body down on his gut. Did Sil think Toothless would be aggresive? Maybe, but toothless should know that it was hard to miss with Night Furys kind of accuracy...

Hiccup was relieved as Toothless flung Shade across the planks, although he was well aware that he was in no real danger by the other person with his dragon around, a fact not many in Manen could compare to. Toothless was always around, every time Hiccup was in danger, the familiar screech and blue flames would follow. It was a connection, an impulse, one that exceeded the laws of nature.
The fallen boy, who, if Toothless had used a little more force, would be deep in the water, began to talk. The emotional power of his words was there, but his body didn’t seem to catch up with him. Hiccup answered the boy’s question with his own, “Do you know what dragons have done to me?” he hissed back. There was some hate in his answer, however, he did feel some sympathy for the boy, he knew how he felt, dragons do leave a big mark.
The other dragon, the one who burnt a good portion of the dock soon came down. Toothless, very quickly stood in-between it and Hiccup. The night-fury hissed, staring at his long lost rival, a fellow fury, as black as the night sky and as quick as strong thunder. He really wasn’t content nor keen on fighting, the dragon had just been injured, but Hiccup was in ‘danger’.
Hiccup continued to lock his eyes on Shade, unless he tried anything on Toothless' back. Surprisingly, Toothless had covered both humans. "I may not know you at all, but all I have to say is, It wasn't a dragon that did it to you, really"

Cheese had somehow made it to Månen. She didn't know how, she just had. 'Hey wait is that the chief's son...?" She thought to herself. There was also a very angry looking boy. She sat there for a while, then decided to make herself known. She walked straight out into the open, and sat there. 'I am kind of crazy, aren't I?' She thought to herself, knowing either something bad would, happen or something good.
