Contrary to the standard Viking appearance, Hiccup is quite scrawny, especially when compared to his peers. His brownish and slightly red hair extends past his forehead and ears curving outwards at the ends. His large dark green eyes reflect his peaceful and adventurous personality. He has a small nose that rests upon a quite roundish face. He is of medium height and quite thin. Ever since his battle and its aftermath, he has had a metal prosthetic leg attached to his left knee.
He wears traditional Viking clothing which includes a green tunic extending to his thighs, held by a brownish belt on his waist, covered by a furry vest. He wears brown pants that cover most of his prosthetic leg. He usually wears traditional furry boots on both legs, but occasionally just walks with his metal leg uncovered, particularly when riding Toothless.
I find it amazing, How we manage to scare dragons away..... without axes…..

BACKGROUND,
The only child of Stoic the Vast, Hiccup was born destined to be the next chief of the tribe. When he was five years old, his mother, renowned for her fierce ability with the axe, passed away. As he grew older, he proved to be quite a disappointment to his father. He was small and couldn’t wield usual Viking weapons rendering him useless in the field of war. Throughout his childhood, his father constantly compared hiccup to his own days as a child, in which he lived a life of rigid discipline and training. Because of this, Hiccup was ignored by his father who sent him to be trained at the blacksmith, there he became Gobbers apprentice. He would spend the first half of his teenage years trying to win his father’s favour and prove himself to be a strong member of the clan.
Under Gobber, he leant the tasks of a blacksmith, mending and making weapons and providing the warriors with fresh killing tools. He also discovered a talent, and on the contrary to the clans belief, came in handy later in his life. He was a master inventor, a smart Viking using his knowledge and hands not to kill, but to create. He himself saw it as a compensation for his lack of dragon killing skills. Despite his constant playful insults, Gobber became a central figure in hiccups life, a bridge between him and his father.
Before his great victory, his relationship with his peers and the rest of the clan was sour. Being weak, he was not seen as a true Viking and was hence an outcaste. He was the subject of mockery by his stronger peers, while the older warriors saw him as a nuisance and burden that they had to look after, sometimes risking their lives. He soon began to develop a crush on one of the girls in the village, Astrid, a strong girl, very popular amongst the clan. Although she mocked him less than the others, she too saw him as a nuisance.
As his brutal life continued, hiccup, being obsessed in killing the legendary night fury, soon invented a dragon killing machine, a sort of large slingshot used to entrap a dragon in flight. One night, he managed to bring down the mighty fury. His attempts to explain this to his tribe led to even more mockery. He then decided to search for it himself, finding it tangled in a mess of rope, he showed it mercy and freed it. In turn, the dragon also spared Hiccups life once freed.
Meanwhile, Stoic, while preparing for a journey into the supposed dragons nest, was convinced by Gobber to allow Hiccup into dragon training, which he reluctantly agreed to do. Hiccup also was quite reluctant to go despite his childhood dreams. While in training, he proved to be a poor fighter, having to be saved by Gobber. One of the first lessons he leant was that dragons would always kill when given the chance, the opposite of what the night fury did, this sparked his curiosity which made him venture deeper into the dragons new home.
When Hiccup met the dragon, which he named toothless, because of his retractable teeth, initial uneasiness turned into friendship. The two began to understand each other and a great relationship of man and beast was formed. With his wisdom, Hiccup was able to deduce some dragon weakness, for example, their fondness of grass. He used these in the arena which shot him into stardom throughout the clan as they swarmed to him, leaving behind an envious Astrid. While leading a double life, Hiccup realized that he had to fix Toothless’ tail-wing, which he had broken, he spent many days in the blacksmith perfecting a new wing. With this, he helped the dragon to fly.
His performance in the training arena soon led him to be chosen to kill a dragon, a rite of passage for Berks teens, fearing the need to kill, he then planned to escape but was stopped by Astrid. Shocked to find Toothless she ran but was soon picked up by the creature in which the romantic flight that resulted, led her to trust Hiccup and Toothless. While in flight they discovered the dragon’s nest, home to a giant dragon, like a queen bee, ordering the others.
Refusing to kill the dragon in his right of passage and in a horrible accident, toothless was captured, and Hiccup unintentionally told his father about the nest. After disowning his son, Stoic led a massive force to the nest guided by the night fury. Upon arrival they were confronted by the monster. Hiccup, utilizing his bravery and skills as a leader led the other teenagers atop dragons to fight the monster. After freeing Toothless he confronted the monster himself and defeated it, but with a massive cost, his left leg.
Fitted with a new prosthetic leg made by Gobber, Hiccup soon realized that he had brought peace back to Berk, which had by now transformed into a dragon sanctuary. His father and clan approved of him for who he really was and a final kiss from Astrid symbolized his acceptance as a Viking. [/sup] [/blockquote][/blockquote]
