Elliot poked absently at his plate of vegetables and meat, not feeling especially hungry. Then again, if he didn't eat something now, he'd knew he would be later. He forced himself to swallow down a forkful of meat and potatoes as he looked around.
This was the first time he'd been at the mess hall in a while. Generally, when meals took place here, his parents would simply save a share for him and bring it back to the house. But this time, they'd refused. Why? He absently passed his parents an irritated stare, but they didn't really seem to notice, too busy chatting and laughing with other villagers. He wasn't a child anymore. If he'd wanted to stay home, what business was it of theirs? Was it that hard to simply bring his some home? But they'd insisted this time that he needed to get out of the house and be spend some time with the other villagers, much to the somewhat reclusive boy's great annoyance.
If he'd wanted dinner tonight, he hadn't had any other choice. So here he was.
It was definitely a lot more noise than he was used to, with voices raised in laughter and mostly mindless chatter. Being unaccustomed, it was getting to him a bit, putting the boy slightly on edge.
He couldn't eat like this, he decided. He glanced around. Was there any kind of bag or box he could carry food in? Maybe he could just take it home for later himself. Hoping that his parents wouldn't take notice, he pushed himself up from the table, getting up to look as he navigated around the large crowd. Even away from the table, the mess hall was completely packed.

Desperately attempting to enjoy his dinner, Hiccup was caught in a lengthy conversation with an older Viking. Despite trying to be polite, he was really annoyed at the nuisance, a constant babble of useless information about Manen and things he’d already known. He simply nodded and replied periodically with a “yes” and a slightly enthusiastic “You don’t say”. Soon he lost eye contact and began to loudly scrape his fork across his half empty plate, hoping that it would discourage any more talk, it didn’t.
Hiccup’s eyes searched the room, exploring the large crowd in and around the tables, all chattering loudly. They soon focused on a vaguely familiar person who got up from his table and began navigating his way throughout the Vikings, he had found his escape ticket. Hiccup gave the Viking a halfheartedly laugh, “Oh, it’s you” he shouted, trying to sound as realistic as possible.
He half smiled back to the Viking, “The guy over there is a good friend of mine, he said he wanted to see me”, lying of course. Hiccup got up off his chair and made his way to the boy. “Hey…” it took a few seconds for him to remember his name “Eliot”. He quickly glanced to make sure the older Viking wasn’t looking. “I haven’t seen you in a while, what brings you to the hall” he asked with a smile.
Hiccup knew little about Eliot, even after he had become somewhat popular amongst the village. He knew nothing of his history or life, “how’s your umm dragon by the way?” he asked.

Elliot made his way towards a few crates, starting to dig through them in search of something to carry his meal back in. His search was quickly interrupted, though, as the sound of a shout made him look up with a bewildered blink.
It was that Hiccup boy, he realized, the one who started the dragon taming trend. He didn't know the boy personally, but after the all the recent events, he was one person that you couldn't help but hear something about in Berk. He just waited for a moment, unsure if the shout had been directed at him at first, but then the boy started heading his way, giving him an unexpected greeting.
Elliot blinked again, wholly bewildered about why the dragon boy had specifically gotten up out of his chair to come greet him when they hardly knew each other. Had he missed something? He was surprised that the boy even remembered his name - unlike him, Elliot wasn't someone who was particularly known inside the village.
The thought made him return the boy's smile slightly with a light nod as he thought about how to answer. Telling him that his parents practically forced him? No, that would be rather embarrassing at his age. "...Just wanted a change of scene, I guess. It's pretty chaotic here, though." He replied vaguely, fabricating an answer that he hoped was reasonable enough. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy a change of scene now and then...it was just that a hall filled with loud, feasting vikings wasn't exactly the kind of scene that suited him. Even though he wasn't big on dragons, perhaps he did have something slightly in common with this boy. While maybe in a somewhat different way, it was no secret that Hiccup hadn't initially fit in very well with Berk's culture, either.
The boy's next question took away Elliot's slight smile, though. His gaze moved from him towards the wall. "Err... I...don't have one..." He answered, honestly, this time. It seemed like many people in Berk did each have a dragon of their own, now, but Elliot was one of the few who couldn't get past his fear and distrust of them. That was definitely one way he differed from this boy. He didn't want to draw attention to his dislike of them, though - the subject somehow always made him feel awkward. "How are...umm..." He struggled to recall the dragon's name. "things going with Toothless?" He finished, hoping to move the attention away from himself.

Hiccup could see the confusion written on Elliot’s face, understandable, of course, it was a random and unexpected greeting. A quick flick of his eye back to the old Viking confirmed that he had finally lost interest in the boy, he turned back to Elliot and listened to his answer. An interesting scene, he thought, “Yeah, it’s way too loud here, not very surprising though…..”. Hiccup had never grown accustomed to Viking demeanor, in particular , dinner-table etiquette, Elliot didn’t seem rather happy about it either.
He quickly attempted to re-collect any information about Elliot, but he was blank. Why was this guy so mysterious? He thought about it. It then hit him that the young man was quite similar to himself, they were both unpopular and considered outcasts within the village. Both were invisible, Elliot, stored away within his house, and himself, running off outside of the village. Except of course, his own image amongst the Vikings had changed drastically. Hiccup couldn’t help but think, perhaps the invisible man had something very valuable to offer Berk as well, which was right now hidden away and rejected.
After asking him about his ‘dragon’, he noticed that his smile faded away. He was slightly shocked that he didn’t have a dragon but he tried his best not to show it. No dragon? I wonder why, does he still hate them? He was about to ask “w…” but stopped himself remembering his faded smile, hopefully he knows that there not dangerous or anything anymore he thought. But he remained quiet, and gave a slightly awkward but soft laugh. He hoped to ease any tensions he might have created, however, he had possibly made them worse.
Hiccup continued to listen, he had been asked that many times today and recited the usual answer “Toothless…. yeah he’s great, he’s a bit quieter these days though, all he does is eat salmon over and over again, salmon I have to catch… lazy reptile, I could’ve sworn he was skinnier a week ago….” He was about to stupidly continue the normal answer and ask ‘what about yours’ but stopped realizing that he had already asked before.
“Umm, I’m going to meet him now, would you like to come, I don’t think you’ve seen him before? We should get out of here anyway, we might get hit by a chicken bone..” He asked. He still wanted to know what Elliot’s stance on dragons were, this was the politest way he could think of that would clench his curiosity.

Elliot tensed again as Hiccup gave a slight, soft chuckle after his comment of not having a dragon companion, wondering what the boy who'd started the trend was thinking. He kept his own eyes downwards, but out of the corner of his vision he could see a bit of surprise written on the boy's face.
He answered his own question afterwards, though, talking about Toothless. Apparently he had gotten the name right - that was good, at least. He listened to the answer, still somehow unable to picture someone acting that comfortable with a dragon despite how it was practically common place for most other people in the village now.
Then the boy's next question pulled him out of his thoughts again. Go with him to see the dragon? "Uh..." Elliot sputtered, momentarily tripping over his own tongue. The young man looked back at the crowd as Hiccup made the comment about the chicken bone, just in time to hear an overly loud laugh and see some sort of bottle suddenly go flying before crashing onto the floor. He winced slightly. He had a good point, in that regard. A dragon or the dining hall? He considered the two options a moment longer, before eventually nodding.
"A...alright. Okay, sure." He sputtered a bit as he finally agreed to the offer, hoping that he didn't sound as nervous as he was. But this was the boy who'd started everything with the dragon's, right? Surely he knew what he was doing. And there was a small part of him that was a bit curious.

Hiccup saw the flying and crashing bottle, it was humorous to him, not surprising of course, but the event was so coincidental that he couldn’t help but softly chuckle. His facial expression quietly said ‘I told you so’ in a comical form. Hiccup was by now, really looking forward to showing Elliot Toothless, he was anxious to see their reactions.
He led Elliot towards the large door that opened the Mess hall to the rest of the village, being one of the most important places in the entire village, a door that size fit it well. “Time to change the scene” He said as he stepped out. Immediately the cold winter wind hit him, he reacted with a shiver and carried on down the steps.
Hiccup expected Toothless to be near the hall, probably where he had last saw him. Several Nadders and Gronckles, in packs, flew overhead, some carrying riders. Hiccup wondered if Astrid was up there too, it was pretty sad, he hadn’t seen her in a while, but he refocused on finding Toothless.
Hiccup shouted, “Toothless, Bud! Where are you?!” In almost an instant the familiar black figure swooped down from out of nowhere, he camouflaged well in the night sky, only the stars betrayed him. The Dragon noticed Hiccups friend, he glided behind them attempting to surprise them. Hiccup had already noticed his nightfury. Quickly, he swooped over both of the human’s heads only slightly missing each of them. He landed next to Hiccup who turned to face Elliot. “Here he is, Elliot meet Toothless, Toothless, Elliot”
While on the ground, it was apparent Toothless had its riding gear on. The Curios dragon, with his large catlike pupils looked from Hiccup to Elliot and from Elliot to Hiccup. “You can touch him if you want, his friendly if you are”, Toothless politely growled at the comment.

Elliot followed Hiccup out of the hall, nodding at the comment that it was time to change the scene. That change, at least, was much welcome. Despite the cold, he still gave a sigh of relief to be away from the chaos as they exited the noisy, bustling building.
Several dragons, some with riders, flew by - a pretty common occurrence in the village nowadays. The boy just looked down a bit, tensing slightly as his companion called out to his dragon.
There was a sudden rush of wind behind them almost immediately after that, Elliot realizing what it was just in time to duck down, though the dark shape of the dragon flew past just above their heads. He struggled not to yelp as it moved above him, managing to swallow his surprise before it left his mouth as the dragon came down next to his companion. The boy tried not to show his tension on his face - this was the closest he'd been to a dragon since...
Hiccup turned to face him, starting off with introductions. "U...umm, hello there, Toothless." He eventually replied with a weak wave, unsure of exactly how to interact with dragons.
The dragon's gaze kept darting from him to the other boy, Hiccup mentioning that he could touch him if he wanted, which the dragon backed up a slight, non-hostile growl. "...Err..." Elliot sputtered, hesitating for a moment. He didn't want to persay, the boy remembering what'd happened the last time he'd touched a dragon. But in this situation, he felt like he should. If he backed down now, when everything seemed fine, he'd be ashamed of himself for letting his fears get the better of him.
Slowly, he reached out a shaky hand, giving a last, tense moment of hesitation before finally placing it on the shoulder of the dragon's scaly body.

Hiccup watched closely, it was the touch, Obviously Elliot’s first, Hiccup was weirdly excited. Elliot’s hand had reached out and positioned itself on the dragons shoulder. Toothless made his toothless smile. Hiccups attentive observations had revealed a lot. Elliot’s facial expression, his tensing of his hand, It was obvious that the guy was nervous and scared. Hiccup thought for a while, of course, Toothless was a dragon, a beast, an arbitrary monster once ‘evil’. He was by all means, something to be afraid of but… Hiccup just couldn’t grasp it.
Before he could stop he let out his curiosity, rather forcefully, “Why do you hate dragons so much!?” He immediately regretted it. Stupid, stupid, stupid he thought. He could’ve atleast tried to start some light persiflage before being so rude and forceful.
Hiccup moved towards Toothless and began patting him softly, something told him Toothless was annoyed at him. “umm.. sorry, I meant why are you so err nervous around them” He asked him more passively.
“It’s just that they’re really nice creatures, really, what you’ve heard about them is wrong and stuff” shut up Hiccup shut up! Toothless slapped the back of Hiccups head. Holding it in pain, he sighed, “ummm yeah, it’s just, you know, you don’t have a dragon and all, and I was just a bit curios”. Hiccup looked down not daring to make any eye contact, the tension was high for him.

OOC: Mind if I join in? New person who enjoys RPs! ^^ Hope it's ok I'm a Night Fury....
Slowly, Cheese walked in. The young Night Fury's eyes darted from one person to another. She was looking for her person, Jen. Cheese's eyes suddenly slitted. No Jen. She growled in worry. 'NOOOOOO!!' Cheese thought. She could speak Norse, but she didn't really like to unless she was being talked to. She flapped her wings and soared to the rafters, only to fall. Her two tail fins were gone, and sometimes she forgot that.
Quickly recovering, she then noticed ANOTHER NIGHT FURY TAIL dragging out of the hall. Sneaking along, she followed. Soon, the Night fury reached a large tree, near where they had stopped. Curiously, she watched. Obviously, the boy called... Elliot (?) was not to enthusiastic about meeting the other Night Fury. Wow.
Cheese thought she was the only one. Night Furies were totally black? She glanced down at the blue stripes on her wings, and blue spiral's on her sides. 'Oh well.' She thought. She continued to watch, spying on the other metal- legged boy mostly. 'He is.... er...... um, Hiccup?' The young Night Fury thought confusedly. Suddenly, she remembered Jen. She darted out, tripping over a branch, and landing between the two boys. "Uh.. Uh... U-Um H-Hi?" She stuttered, nervously. After all, she and Jen were very new to the area. No one knew them.
